Passage Matthew chapter One

It doesn’t matter which version you choose. It can be digital or paper. You can use one of those fancy coloring bibles and do a page or coloring along with the passage.

I will mostly do Homan Christian Standard Bible because of their copyright freedoms.

  • Mt 1:2b  Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar,
    • rape
  • Mt 1:5a Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab,
    • • “‘harlot” from  Jericho
    • 5b Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth,
      • Moabitess, widow
  • Mt 1:6b Then^[c] David fathered Solomon by Uriah’s wife,

  • Mt 1:16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary,
    who gave birth to^[h] Jesus who is called the Messiah.

    • 21 Private Proclamation
      • ²¹ She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus,^[i] because He will save His people from their sins.”

        and give birth to a son,
        and they will name Him Immanuel,^[j]
      • which is translated “God is with us.”
  • Mt 1:24-25
    • ²⁴ When Joseph got up from sleeping, he did as the Lord’s angel had commanded him. He married her ²⁵ but did not know her intimately until she gave birth to a son.^[k] And he named Him Jesus.
      • There was immediacy in Joseph’s action

Mindfulness –

1. choose a verse,
2.  set a timer for 5 minutes, or whatever works for you.
3.  example: Matt 1:18a
4. repeat to yourself, and at each word, enunciate the next word in the sentence starting with the first word…

example:

• ¹⁸ This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about
• THIS is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about
• This IS how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about
• This is HOW the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about.

…and so on.  This will cause you to look at the verse more intently, and may have you memorize it before your five minutes are done.
